A screen allows us to manipulate what space we have.
It allows us to create rooms where there were none and transform areas for different purposes.

Around me, factories are being converted into warehouse style apartments. It seems that this is a significant new Australian ideal. Among other things, open-plan living demands that spaces be structured more carefully than before. Where many different activities occupy the same environment, previously designated spaces spill
into each other and encroach upon others. Sometimes it is necessary to create boundaries.
